Delhi officials get plum posts on BCCI panels

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had a good ‘outing’ at the BCCI annual general meeting on Sunday as four of its officials were inducted into various committees of the Board.

DDCA general secretary S.P. Bansal led the way as he replaced association president Arun Jaitley as the vice-president from north zone. And since all five vice- presidents traditionally head one committee or the other, Bansal has been given the charge of the Junior Cricket Committee.

Jaitley, a politician, reportedly opted out as he would get busier with the general elections that will be held next year. Former Test opening batsman Chetan Chauhan, a DDCA vice-president, has been appointed on the BCCI Specialised Academies Committee.

“His exact designation will be known when the BCCI will announce the complete list of the committees on Tuesday,” said a source.

DDCA sports secretary Sunil Dev remains vice-chairman of the National Cricket Academy, headed by Kerala cricket chief T.C Mathew.

C.K Khanna, also a DDCA vice-president, has been named on the IPL governing council while Ravi Jain has been appointed vice-chairman of the media committee.
