Dean Jones' tips for Oz bowlers on overpowering England batsmen in summer Ashes

Sydney, Oct 26 (ANI): Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones has provided some tips to the host team's bowlers to succeed in the upcoming winter Ashes series by pointing out certain weaknesses in some of the main England batsmen.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Jones has chosen England captain Alastair Cook, young batsman Joe Root and box office star Kevin Pietersen as some of the main threats to Australia and has given tips on how to outdo them.

Hailing Cook for leading his team to victory in the summer Ashes series despite his own poor show, Jones advised the Australian bowlers to bowl to Cook at the back of a length and make him play at every ball so as to stop him from rediscovering his mojo on fast and bouncier Australian wickets.

According to Jones, Root has the ability to be a 'nicker' in the Ashes for England as he is a good quality player and organised, adding that the host bowlers need to pitch it up to Root and get him driving.

Jones urged Australia to keep a good watch on Pietersen as he can prove to be a worthy threat if he replicates his summer swashbuckling exhibition, adding that the bowlers should mix up the length to Pietersen, make him bat out of his skin and refrain from indulging in any verbal war with the fiery player.

In the case of Jonathan Trott, Jones urged Australian bowlers to continue their plans for him, which they had in the summer Ashes and take advantage of his distaste for the 'short stuff' and the ball swinging back into his pads, while in the case of Ian Bell, Jones advised the bowlers to keep the ball up and stop him from hitting the third man.
