Cricket Australia CEO says Warne-Samuel's fight 'will help promote BBL'

Sydney, Jan. 8 (ANI): Cricket Australian chief James Sutherland has said that the brawl between Shane Warne and Marlon Samuels during a Big Bash League (BBL) match at the MCG on Sunday has been good for the promotion of the league.

Sutherland said that while he did not condone Warne's actions, his outburst at Samuels would create a stronger rivalry between the Melbourne Stars and the Melbourne Renegades.

According to news.com.au, Sutherland said that what happened at the MCG was in front of a huge crowd, and the two teams had a lot at stake, basically vying for the top position in the BBL.

He said that though the players are entertainers putting on a show, but first and foremost they're sportsmen who are competing for big prizes.

He added that this sort of thing was probably something that only led to a greater rivalry between the Renegades and the Stars and created greater interest for the Big Bash League. (ANI)
