London, Aug 6 (ANI): England captain Alastair Cook has demanded an entire Ashes series win from his players following a rain-affected drawn third Test at Old Trafford that allowed them to retain the urn.
According to the Mirror, the soggy Old Trafford draw guaranteed England the spoils at 2-0 up with two matches left to play, as the fourth Test starts in Durham on Friday.
Hailing his Ashes-retaining heroes, Cook said that as they have completed their first objective of retaining the Ashes, so he now wants to win the entire series, beginning with getting up their levels at the Durham Test.
According to Cook, England has seen how competitive their arch-rivals Australia can get in the third Test, although he added that even though both England and Australia played well at Lord's and Old Trafford respectively, his team managed to show a fighting character to get through the game at Manchester.
Cook also said that now the ultimate goal of them is to win either the Durham Test or the fifth Test at the Oval or even both to achieve a victorious series.
However, the report said that Australia's Ashes hopes were washed away by the rain leaving them to cling to hopes of a drawn series and nothing more.
But Australian skipper Michael Clarke said that even though he and his men are disappointed at not getting over the line, he is confident of having success if his team played with the same attitude like they did at Old Trafford.
However, Clarke admitted that England had outplayed them in the first two Tests. (ANI)
