New Delhi, Jan. 7 (ANI): The Congress party on Monday urged politicians not to politicise the Delhi gang-rape issue, saying the law is taking its course and the government is doing its duty.
Amid the persistent demand by the political parties and especially from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a special session of Parliament to amend the laws regarding crimes against, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said that political parties should work to bring about a change in the society instead of levelling allegations on each other.
"The law takes its own course and the government does its own work and we should all work following the societal norms. There is no need to put allegations on any political party. The government performs its responsibility and the law is doing its own work and we should all perform our responsibilities," said Alvi.
The BJP and several other political parties are demanding a special session of Parliament to discuss and amend the laws related to crimes against women in the country amid massive protest and outrages after the brutal gang-rape and torture of the 23-year-old victim of December 16 incident, who died from her injuries on December 29.
