New Delhi, Aug. 14 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Wednesday said the Congress is not serious about discussing the Food Security Bill in Parliament in a correct manner, and alleged that it is using it as a ploy to engage in votebank politics.
"On one hand, the Congress is issuing statements in regard to the Food Security Bill by handing out the message throughout the country that they want to pass the Bill. But, the truth is that they are not concerned about the Food Security Bill, they are more concerned about vote security. Congress doesn't want to wipe out the hunger of the poor, but instead, wants to quench its hunger for votes," Hussain said.
"On the Food Security Bill, the Congress discusses, makes public statements in press conferences and earns the support of their allies by convincing them, but on the Floor of Parliament, the Congress is making no effort to discuss the Food Security Bill in a correct manner. We are worried about this," Hussain added.
Additionally, Hussain blamed the Congress for the multiple disruptions in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, saying that the ruling party is not willing to give the opposition answers on key questions.
"The whole country can see that Parliament didn't run again today because of the Congress-solely, Congress. ...The Congress wants the Parliament not to run, because they do not want to answer the questions raised by the BJP-questions on corruption and land scam," Hussain said.
There was an uproar in the Lok Sabha after the Food Security Bill was taken up for a discussion in the House.
As a result of the din, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till Monday.
