London, Jan 17(ANI): Colin Montgomerie has said he is not bitter at not becoming Team Euro captain it the Ryder Cup after losing out to Paul McGinley to lead the team at the Gleneagles in 2014.
Montgomerie emerged as a shock candidate for the role despite doing the job at Celtic Manor in 2010, the Daily Mirror reports.
But McGinley, a vice-captain in 2010 and 2012, was eventually voted in this week to lead Europe against Tom Watson's American side.
McGinley has the support of the bulk of the current victorious European side including Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Ian Poulter and Luke Donald.
But Montgomerie, playing in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship this week, said McGinley was voted in by the committee who run this tour and as a man manager, he is very good and thorough.
Montgomerie added he wasn't in the picture until a week before Christmas when he heard others felt there was an opportunity for me to captain the team at home in Scotland, which would have been a dream come true.
However, Montgomerie rejected suggestion that he was bitter, saying there was nothing like that. (ANI)
