Cold wave to lose sting from today

Patna, Jan. 12: Residents can hope for a comfortable Makar Sankranti, as the Met department today forecast an end to the cold wave onslaught from tomorrow.

Met officials, however, said residents of the state, including those in Patna, would feel a relief only after January 21, when the minimum temperature is expected to cross 12 degrees Celsius.

"There has been an improvement in the weather condition during the day. The cold wave should be over by tomorrow (Sunday). Days would be sunny with fog in the morning. It would however be cold between 8pm and 8am as the temperature would remain below 12 degrees," said Ashish Sen, director, India Meteorological Department, Patna.

Patna today recorded a maximum temperature of 19.7 degrees Celsius (three degrees below normal) and a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius (five degrees below normal).
