Clash at Mumbai's Filmalaya Studio

Mumbai, Oct.27 (ANI): Mumbai Police said Sunday they are investigating a clash that took place late on Saturday night in the city's famous Filmalaya Studio.

Talking to media here, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dattatray Jadhav said that the incident was reported to them a little after 10 p.m. on Saturday night, and added that the police is actively pursuing the causes for the incident.

He said: "A mix martial art program was going on. During the show, 25 to 30 people came into the studio and said they wanted to participate in the program. They molested girls and then left the premises."

"We have filed a case against the persons who disrupted the program. We have been told that security guards fought with the intruders.

According to reports, Filmalaya Studio was hosting a Super Fight League event, and the people who barged in, were from the Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena, which is led by Raj Thackeray.

Police said the MNS activists pushed receptionist Tejashree Mohite who tried to stop the former from entering the premises to demand money from the producer of the event Anil Chauhan.

Police said few people were injured in the clash and have been admitted to Cooper Hospital for treatment.

They also damaged the car of promoter Raj Kundra, the husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, besides two other cars and three motor bikes.

So far, one person identified as Ghanshyam Parab has been arrested.

A case has been filed under Indian Penal Code Sections 354, 143, 145,146, 147, 148 and 149.

Kundra, the promoter of the Super Fight League, said: "Our event was going on. Some goons tried to come in. They molested one of our female staff. Our guards responded and tried to take the situation under control. The intruders were drunk."

Assistant Commissioner Jadhav said: "Raj Kundra didn't know anything about it. His car was parked at the gate and it was damaged. We have recorded his statement."(ANI)
