Beijing, Jan 29 (IANS) Beijing authorities said Tuesday they were investigating two high-class restaurants operating in two ancient temples in the Chinese capital.
The restaurants are located in the Zhizhu and Songzhu temples in Beijing's Dongcheng district, Xinhua reported.
The temples have a history of 600 and 300 years respectively.
The Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau said investigations are on into whether the commercial catering activities were approved or not.
The two temples were included in Beijing's list of cultural heritage protection sites in 1984.
Under Chinese laws, such sites cannot be used for businesses except with special approval.
