The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium to be used for the IPL 6 match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils. It directed the de-sealing of three stands at the venue in Chepauk.
This was after the Court heard a plea of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. A bench of justices B S Chauhan and Dipak Misra agreed to an urgent hearing to the Association's plea in view of the IPL match and posted the matter for today
Earlier Chennai Super Kings T20 home game against the Delhi Daredevils ran into problems with Tamil Nadu government cancelling the structural stability certificate of the MA Chidambaram stadium on Monday.
TNCA had challenged Chennai Corporation's action of sealing three stands --I, J and K on the ground that they had been constructed without prior permission from the authorities concerned.
The Tamil Nadu government's letter had put a question mark over the last match of the T20 League being hosted by Chennai as the qualifiers have been shifted out of the city due to the TN government's stand over Sri Lankan players.
