Centurion Voges joins Oz cricketers hamstring injury list

Melbourne, Feb.11 (ANI): Australian batting's hamstring epidemic has struck again with its latest match-winner Adam Voges becoming the latest victim.

Voges clouted his first one-day international century to lead the hosts to 5-274 at the MCG-a total the West Indies threatened before succumbing meekly in the closing overs to be all out for 257 and waste a maiden ton by Johnson Charles.

Almost inconceivably for the once-feared tourists, they've now lost 17 consecutive results in Australia dating to January 1997 -- the worst streak by any nation in Australia's ODI history.

Voges joins captain Michael Clarke and his occasional replacement as leader, George Bailey on the hamstring complaint list.

Previous interim Australian batting coach Dean Jones said the hamstring curse had gone "beyond ridiculous".

With a flexible middle-order player still high on Australian selectors' agenda after Mike Hussey's retirement, Voges' first ODI century could not have come at a better time. (ANI)
