Jamshedpur, Feb. 2: Jamshedpur drubbed West Singhbhum by 7 wickets in an one-sided match of the senior inter-district (Elite) cricket tournament for HP Bodhanwala Trophy at Telco ground today.
In the other outing, Ranchi posted a confident 5-wicket win over Bokaro, at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Stadium.
Young left-arm medium-pacer Jaskaran Singh inflicted maximum damage with a five-wicket haul after West Singhbhum opted to bat first. Singh bowled a fiery spell to stop the West Singhbhum innings at a paltry 76 in 16.2 overs. He claimed 5/35 and got able support from fellow seamers Javik Yadav (3/11) and Rahul Shukla (2/33). Eight West Singhbhum batters failed to open their account.
In reply, Jamshedpur attained the target without any discomfort by losing three wickets. Opener Ashish Yadav top-scored with a fluent 32. Skipper saurabh Tiwary and other front ranking batsmen ' Ishank Jaggi, Vishal Singh and Aakash Verma ' did not bat and allowed tail-enders to get some batting practice.
Earlier, Bokaro scored 146/8 in the stipulated 50 overs after deciding to bat first. The Ranchi bowlers kept the Bokaro batsmen in tight leash with some accurate bowling. Barring a patient 27 by Manoj Yadav and a composed 26 by Raju Yadav, the rest did not contribute much. Sumit Kumar, though, tried hard with a knock of 21 against his name.
Ranchi chased the soft target in 45.2 overs, in the process losing 5 wickets. Sachin Prasad (40), Abhimanyu Yadav (32), Anirban Chatterjee (27) and Siddharth Raj Sinha (26) guided the team home.
Bokaro skipper Keshav Kumar bagged two wickets.
