Cabinet secy's review meet

New Delhi, Jan. 23 -- In a first, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth has summoned top bureaucrats and police officers for a meeting on Wednesday to review crimes against women in the country in the backdrop of gangrape of the 23-year-old girl in the Capital.

The meeting comes days after Congress president Sonia Gandhi devoted a significant part of her speech at the party's Jaipur conclave to crimes against women.

Government sources said the cabinet secretary's meeting would discuss steps that each of the dozen-odd ministries and departments were taking in their respective areas to improve the lot of women.
