Patna, Feb. 8: The state cabinet today gave its nod to the construction of a museum and a memorial stupa at Vaishali to keep the urn (holy relic) of Lord Buddha.
"The cabinet approved the art, culture and youth affairs department's proposal to construct the museum and the memorial stupa at an estimated cost of Rs 15.51 crore," cabinet co-ordination department's secretary Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
The memorial stupa and museum at Vaishali would be built to keep the urn (relic) of Lord Buddha, Mehrotra said, adding that the decision had been taken to attract foreign tourists. The urn of Lord Buddha is at present in Patna Museum. The cabinet also approved the department's proposal to construct a memorial and a library at Sitab Diara (in Saran district) in the memory of Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Narayan.
Besides, the agriculture department's proposal to spend Rs 179.67 crore to implement the green cover scheme as a part of the culture roadmap was cleared, he said.
