British judge stops 'depressed' terror suspect's deportation

London, Jan 26 (IANS) A British judge's ruling provoked outrage as he blocked government attempts to deport a "depressed" Algerian terror suspect amid fears that he may kill himself.

Justice Mitting, who is Britain's most senior immigration judge, invoked human rights laws to spare the man, who does not -dispute claims that he poses a risk to national security, after hearing that he may not be put on suicide watch while in Algerian custody, Daily Express reported.

The move means the 43-year-old man, known only as G, can stay in Britain despite being accused of funding Islamists trying to overthrow his home government and supporting international terrorists in the -country.

The latest ruling came two months after Justice Mitting provoked a huge public outcry after blocking the -deportation of Jordanian hate preacher Abu Qatada.
