Brit scuba diver sets new world record by spending 50 hours underwater!

London, Oct. 19 (ANI): A British scuba diver has reportedly created a new world record by spending almost 50 hours underwater where he ate, slept and drank.

Sean McGahern, 38, stayed underwater in the waters of Malta for 49 hours and 56 minutes in which he had to survive strong winds, currents and one metre waves.

According to express.co.uk, McGahern managed to have energy drinks through a fluid pack with a straw and ate food like sausages which do not lose consistency in water.

The scuba diver kept himself occupied by cleaning debris that had accumulated at the bottom of the sea bed in the St George's Bay.

McGahren said that he now holds all salt water endurance records in open sea in both cold and warm water and he is very proud of it.

The report said that McGahren was accompanied by his fiancee and fellow diver Mikaela Papagiorcopulo who offered him kisses of encouragement to complete his dive.

He kept himself sustained by eating chocolate bars, jelly babies, boiled eggs and having fluids like Lucozade and Gatorade.

McGahern completed the dive in aid of charity Inspire who prove therapy, education and leisure services to the disabled in Malta and Gozo.

The Briton has smashed the record previously held by Will Goodman in 2010 which stood at 48 hours, 8 minutes and seven seconds, the report added. (ANI)
