Cricket has always been a source of entertainment in India for a long time across age groups. Apart from playing the game, people have vested in other mediums to find cheap thrills from it. Betting is one such nuisance that has maligned the game from a long time. The dark side of betting has come to light after a 12-year old boy was allegedly killed in cold blood by his friend over a bet. The accused has been taken into custody by the Liluah police station cops. According to Huffingtonpost.in, the victim’s father spoke that his son had been killed after he demanded the INR 250 from his friend. “They had bet INR 250 on the match. My son won the bet and demanded the money. But he (the accused) refused to pay the amount. He then brought my son to a nearby garden and beat him up mercilessly. He then smashed my son’s head with a brick. My son became senseless. Then he throttled him,” said the victim’s father Kanhaiya Paswan.
The accused then went on to disfigure the victim’s body by taking him to a nearby jungle and covering it with shrubs and herbs.
The police did say that one of the accused has confessed, “One of the boys broke down and confessed the crime.”
The father of the victim ended with saying that the killer must be punished no matter what. “I won’t get my son back. But the killer must be punished,” said Paswan.
