Boxer Orlando Cruz to marry boyfriend following `emotional` Facebook love exchange

London, Aug 17 (ANI): World featherweight title contender Orlando Cruz, who is the first openly gay male professional boxer, has proposed to his partner in a film posted on Facebook.

According to The Guardian, Cruz, who made headlines when he came out last October, delighted followers with a video lasting about two minutes in which he asked his long-term boyfriend, Jos Manuel, to marry him.

The Puerto Rican said to his partner that through the ups and downs they had, he had always been there for him and although he was a bit nervous, he wanted to share with their friends if his partner wanted to marry him.

Cruz didn't have to wait long as Manuel accepted his proposal with his own emotional video, also posted on Facebook, the report said.

Both videos have since been removed from the website and it was unclear where the wedding would take place as same-sex marriage is not allowed in Puerto Rico, or in Florida, where Cruz has a home, the report added.

Cruz is preparing to fight Orlando Salido for the world featherweight title in Las Vegas this October, a year on from his public announcement that he is a proud gay man, the report further said. (ANI)
