BJP accuses CBI of saving Pawan Bansal

New Delhi, July 3 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of saving former Union Minister Pawar Kumar Bansal by not naming him in the chargesheet filed in connection with the railway bribery scam.

"The CBI has saved Pawan Kumar Bansal and this is not surprising. The Congress is talking loudly, but the point is that there is a lot of difference between just talking and implementation of the same," said Hussain.

The CBI yesterday filed its chargesheet in the alleged Rs 10 crore cash-for-post railway bribery scandal before a special court in New Delhi.

The agency filed its charge sheet before the special CBI Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma naming 10 accused which include Vijay Singla, Mahesh Kumar, middlemen Sandeep Goyal, Samir Sandhir, Sushil Daga, Ajay Garg, Rahul Yadav, businessman Manjunath and his two aides-PV Murali and Venugopal.

Bansal, who was forced to resign as Railways Minister in May over a corruption scandal in which his nephew allegedly played a role, is not among the 10 people accused of the scam in a chargesheet filed by the CBI.

Bansal was interrogated about the scandal by the CBI last month, which centred on his nephew, Vijay Singla, collecting 90 lakhs in cash, which the CBI says was a bribe for appointment as a member of the Railways Board.

He had to quit the Union Cabinet after it came to light that his nephew had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs. 90 lakhs from Mahesh Kumar. (ANI)
