Chandigarh, July 19 -- Bhajji on song! During his peak, this was how commentators introduced the spinner, whenever he ran through sides. The spinner has now literally taken a step further and ventured into the music business by not only recording an album consisting of a duet, sung in association with Punjabi singer Lakhwinder Lucky, but also co-producing it.
Out of favour with the national selectors for some time and with little hope of making a comeback in the present scenario, it looks like Harbhajan Singh is already chalking out an alternate career route.
There is just one song in his album titled 'Meri Maa' produced by Bhajji and Punjab Ranji cricketer Chandan Madan, who produced a hit Punjabi movie Burrah last year. The song is dedicated to Bhajji's mother Avtar Kaur, and she also appears in the video.
"This song is a gift to my mother and every mother on this earth," he said.
As it is the spinner is not be the first to dabble in this alternate career route. Aussie medium pacer Brett Lee also came out with an album with Asha Bhosle a few years back.
Though the crooner insists that he did this project as it is very close to his heart and cricket is very much his focus but seeing him posing like Shah Rukh Khan on the cover of the album standing in lush green fields arms stretched one could hardly believe that he has played 100 Tests and has 413 wickets to his name.
"I liked the song, when I heard it and the subject is very close to my heart. I wanted to be associated with it. I did what music composer and my associate singer told me to do. It took 4-5 days but we finally managed it," Bhajji said.
Bhajji also didn't mince any words after being overlooked for the recent Zimbabwe tour but said he has not lost all hope.
"I still have 5-6 years of cricket left in me. I did well in IPL and now I am looking forward to domestic season and working hard to get back," Bhajji said.
