If the results of the IPL Public Perception Survey undertaken by Yahoo! Cricket is any indication, an overwhelming 78.7% feel BCCI officials should not be allowed to own IPL teams. BCCI president N Srinivasan, who is considered to be the de-facto owner of Chennai Super Kings, may not be over the moon with these numbers.
Interestingly, nearly 70% of Chennai fans also feel the same. Chennai have been the most prolific team at the IPL, with two titles wins and four appearances in finals.
Over 37% readers said they would want to see the exiled Lalit Modi return to lead the IPL. This included 52% Chennai fans.
Over 68% readers said they would not like to see team owners step on the field before or after an IPL game. But on the other hand, 57% fans of Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t mind seeing their owners on the field.
