London, Sept 15 (ANI): World's most expensive footballer Gareth Bale has scored in his first Real Madrid appearance since his record transfer, after starting on the right-wing in the Spanish giants' clash against Villarreal.
According to the Mirror, Bale was not deemed fit enough to start either of Wales' World Cup qualifiers earlier this month, but found himself handed a start as part of a three-pronged attack for Real Madrid, despite being tipped to play at left-back.
Despite some decent passes and link-up play with Benzema early on, the Welshman struggled to get into the game, the report said.
However, Bale showed the sort of form that won him so much praise last season with an easy tap-in to draw Real Madrid level and then performed his signature celebration, the report added.
The Welshman said before the match that he felt good and hoped to catch up as soon as possible despite being a bit behind physically.
The match finished up in a 2-2 draw, with Ronaldo scoring Real Madrid's second goal, the report further said.
Bale's parents were not at the Bernabeu to see their son's first appearance in Madrid's famous white colours after they could not get flights, according to the report. (ANI)
