Colombo, Oct 5(ANI): Australia captain George Bailey believes dismissing explosive opening batsman Chris Gayle early during their Twenty20 World Cup semifinal clash on Friday would be like winning half the battle.
Gayle lies seventh in the tournament's top-scorers list with 144 runs from five matches and his 158-plus strike rate is second only to Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum in the top 10 chart, but Bailey believes the presence of equally explosive batsman Shane Watson could negate his effect.
"Absolutely, we will focus on getting him out. If he has an outstanding game, it's going to be very difficult for us to win the game. That's the type of player he is," Sports24 quoted Bailey, as saying.
The winner of the Australia-West Indies match would meet host Sri Lanka in the final of the World Cup on Sunday. (ANI)
