Sydney, Aug 12 (ANI): Australian women are on the top with a strong start in the Ashes, after Sarah Elliott's smashing unbeaten 95 runs on the first day at Wormsley led them to 243/3 in the only Ashes Test against England.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Elliott dominated the day, anchoring Australia's innings after the tourists won the toss and elected to bat on a fairly flat wicket
She said after her 320-minute stint at the crease that the bowlers, at times, had done a great job, bowling really tight and the pitch definitely had a bit in it early.
The 31-year-old, whose last match for Australia was the Women's Ashes Test in January 2011, will resume strike on Monday with Alex Blackwell, who's on 29, the report said.
Anya Shrubsole, impressive on debut in front of a crowd of more than 2000, was the pick of the England bowlers with the early scalp of Rachael Haynes, the report added. (ANI)
