New Delhi, Sept. 18 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday stated that Dr. Ashwani Kumar, a special envoy of the Prime Minister to Japan, met the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo earlier today.
MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told mediapersons that Ashwani Kumar is on a three day visit to Tokyo, as part of preparations for the visit of Japan's Majesties to India in November this year.
"The appointment of Mr. Kumar was that their visit is given adequate importance and focus, and he is working towards that. He also used the opportunity of his meeting with the Prime Minister to reiterate Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's invitation to Prime Minister Abe to the annual summit, which is to be held in New Delhi," Akbaruddin said.
Akbaruddin added that in the next two days, the special envoy of the Prime Minister would also meet the Foreign Minister, and the Minister for Economy and Trade, who was recently in India.
Ashwani Kumar will also interact with captains of industry to promote greater economic engagement between India and Japan. (ANI)
