Sydney, Feb 7 (ANI): American corporation Apple has announced that the number of digital songs downloaded from its online iTunes store has topped 25 billion, with the latest song being a Monkey Drums remix by Chase Buch.
According to Apple, the Monkey Drums remix was purchased by a German man, who will be gifted a 10,000 euro iTunes gift card by the company to celebrate the occasion, Telegraph.com.au reports.
In a statement released by Apple, Wesley Schultz, guitarist and lead vocalist with Then Lumineers band said that iTunes has leveled the playing field for musicians in many ways.
Schultz added that Apple is the place where most people go to buy digital music.
Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue thanked music-loving users for making iTunes the number one music retailer in the world.
An average of 15,000 songs are downloaded every minute at iTunes, which was opened in 2003. iTunes is stocked with digital content for iPhones, iPads, and iPods as well as computers powered by Macintosh or Windows operating systems. (ANI)
