Panesar's match figures of 11/210 is the fourth best by an overseas spinner in India. Ahead of Panesar are Jason Krejza (Aus)-12/358, in Nagpur, 2008; Richie Benaud-11/105 (Aus), in Calcutta, 1956; Headley Verity-11/153 (Eng), in Chennai, 1934.
Panesar's match figures are also the second best by a spinner at the Wankhede, after 12/181 by former India leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishanan, against England, in December 1984.
The last visiting left-arm spinner before to take a 6-wicket haul before Panesar's 6/81 was Australian Michael Clarke, who claimed 6/9 at this very ground, in 2004.
The only other time 19 wickets were claimed by opponent spinners against India was in Colombo, in 2008, when Mutthiah Muralidharan and Ajantha Mendis claimed 11 and 8 wickets respectively.
The 10-wicket loss was India's 16th such defeat in Tests and it was their fifth at home. The last time India lost by 10 wickets at home was against Australia, in Mumbai, in March 2001 ' the match just before the historic Eden Test.
India have now lost by 10 wickets on five occasions at home ' thrice at the Wankhede and twice at the Eden.
