London, May 21(ANI): England's bowling coach David Saker has described Jimmy Anderson as the most skillful bowler in the world, following the latter's astounding display during the Lord's Test against New Zealand.
The ICC ratings place Steyn at number one, while Anderson languishes at sixth place, more than a hundred ranking points behind. But Saker admits that despite Steyn being an outstanding bowler, Jimmy has exceptional skills, which are mind blowing.
According to The Independent, Anderson's first innings figures of 5 for 42 made him only the fourth England bowler to take 300 Test wickets. He rarely bowls a poor spell.
The report quoted Saker saying "I remember watching him when I was supporting the Aussie team, and he could swing the ball but you could always get a four off him now and then. Now, as a batsman it is really hard to get runs off him. It is rare that he gets cut, he doesn't bowl short balls except when it is a bouncer, and he always tests the batsman out. He is a class bowler, simple as that."
Saker believes Anderson has a body, which will let him play a lot longer, and he will hopefully go beyond 400 wickets and become England's greatest wicket taker.
The report added that the coach hopes Anderson could stay on for another five or six years. (ANI)
