New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Tuesday overturned the two-year ban on Mohun Bagan and instead imposed a Rs.2 crore fine. The Kolkata club will resume the current I-League with zero points.
The AIFF had earlier slapped Mohun Bagan with a 2 year I-League ban apart from withdrawing them from this season's competition, due to them abandoning a violence marred Kolkata derby against East Bengal mid-way, last December.
The decision was taken during the AIFF's executive committee meeting, chaired by president Praful Patel here.
"The executive committee, after due deliberation, Mohun Bagan will be continue to play in the current season, but they will lose all the 12 points they have earned so far in the league. They will start with zero points and will have to pay
Rs 2 crore as compensation," Patel said here.
