Islamabad, Apr 7 (ANI): Experienced all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been having counseling sessions with a sports psychologist recruited by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to help regain his confidence in bowling ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Afridi has been named in the shortlist of 30 probables for the Champions Trophy by the national selectors, who, however indicated that if he does not perform in the President's Cup limited overs tournament he might be overlooked in the final selection, The Nation reports.

PCB sports counsellor and psychologist Moin ul Atiq said that the board has given him the task of having counselling sessions with Afridi along with other key players before the Champions Trophy.

The report also said that Atiq, a former Pakistan player, had spent considerable time with the all-rounder giving him lectures and also watching him bowl in the nets.

The PCB in the past has also utilised the services of another sports psychologist Maqbool Babri to work with banned pace bowler Mohammad Aamer and some other players with known behavioural problems including Ahmed Shahzad, Zulqarnain Haider and Umar Akmal, the report added. (ANI)
