Patna, Dec.29: Life will never be the same for Kanhaiya Thakur, who was injected acid in his eyes through a syringe by a mob at his native village in Araria district about a week ago.
Thakur, who has almost lost his sight, wants justice for him and his family. He fears that the real culprits would not be punished.
Kanhaiya, 30, a resident of Hingana village under Raniganj police station in Araria district, is undergoing treatment in Patna Medical College and Hospital. He is repenting his decision to support his relative Munna Thakur's wife in the by-election for the post of mukhiya (village head) on December 20.
"It is a fact that I have been victimised for the sake of my relative, who too has been subjected to harassment and met with the same fate," Kanhaiya told The Telegraph in the eye ward of the premier hospital in Patna on Saturday. He said a mob of around 100-people had barged into their houses, dragged both of them out and beat them up. Thereafter, the attackers took acid from the battery of a solar lamp and injected the fluid into their eyes, Kanhaiya added.
Araria superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande said three persons have been arrested and forwarded to jail in connection with the incident.
