Washington, Jan. 23 (ANI): Three people were wounded in a shooting that took place at a community college in Texas following an argument.
According to officials from Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas, the shooting apparently began in the afternoon after an argument arose between two men, at the North Harris campus of Lone Star College in Houston, CNN News reports.
Both the men, of which one was armed and the other carried a student ID, were wounded in the gunfire and were treated at a hospital where they were detained, officials said.
Richard Carpenter, chancellor of the Lone Star College System, said a maintenance worker who was also wounded in the shooting, was in a stable condition.
According to an official, there was a possible fourth victim- a woman with a student ID - who was near the shooting. The woman had suffered a heart attack and was treated accordingly, the official added.
Carpenter said he never expected this incident to happen at his college and hoped that it never happens in the future.
There were more than 10,000 students on the campus at the time of the shooting, said Jed Young, a school spokesman. The campus was evacuated and closed for the day after the incident.
The Houston shooting comes almost a month after the deadly shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut that left 26 people dead. (ANI)
