Bulawayo Athletic Club is a cricket venue in Zimbabwe. It is the home ground of the teams of Rhodesia and Matabeleland. The only time the Club hosted a Test match was in 1992, when Zimbabwe played against New Zealand. Bulawayo Athletic Club has hosted only a single one-day international and the lone Test match played here was met with a lackadaisical reception. Over a thousand came on the first day and in the ensuing days the number dwindled drastically. The crowd response was a mortifying evidence of cricket's losing popularity in Zimbabwe. Bulawayo Athletic Club was Zimbabwe's second Test venue ever. The solitary Test match played between New Zealand and Zimbabwe was hit by a poor wicket, dismal attendances and devastating weather. Even the local cricket administrators believed that nearby Queens Sports Club had better potential as an international venue. The venue hosted its first ever international match on October 31, 1992, which was an ODI between Zimbabwe and New Zealand. In 2007, then ground was hit by fire and was severely damaged. Expenses around USD$400,000 were caused by the fire accident.
