Previously known as Burlton Park and the BS Bedi Stadium this ground was awarded test status in 1983, when it hosted a test match between India and Pakistan. The first ODI was played two years earlier when it hosted a match between England and India on December 20, 1981. Due to problems in the administration and with the board, Gandhi Stadium has been overlooked as a venue for international matches and hence has been unable to host an international match since 1994.
