Speaking to reporters, Kapil Dev said that a few decisions like the retirement of the senior players should be left to be discussed by the players and the selectors.
New Delhi: Former Indian cricket captain and all-rounder Kapil Dev said that players should be allowed to decide when to retire and that the selectors should actively participate in such decisions.
Speaking after donating blood on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the Territorial Army (TA), Dev said that a few decisions like the retirement of the senior players should be left to be discussed by the players and the selectors.
"It depends on the selectors and it is upon the players whether they want to continue playing further or not. Who are we to say anything? It depends on the selectors as to what they want to do and the players," said Dev.
Dev was referring to the speculations and rumours that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning an exit of senior players like Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid who have made significant contributions to the Indian cricket.
