West Indies vs India: 3rd Test, Day 3

R Dravid completed 7000 runs on away soil when he was on four during his knock of 5 in India's first innings. He became the second batsman in the annals of test cricket to achieve this milestone after SR Tendulkar who has amassed 8145 runs.

 

 

R Dravid was playing his 200th innings while batting at number three representing India. He became the first batsman in the annals of test cricket to achieve this distinction.

 

 

R Dravid has an aggregate of 9834 runs while batting at number three and require 22 runs to equal the record of RT Ponting and 23 runs to surpass it. RT Ponting has amassed 9856 runs at number three.

 

 

Indian innings contained four fifties - A Mukund {62}, VVS Laxman {56}, SK Raina {50} and MS Dhoni {65*} providing the 12th occasion of four or more Indian batsmen scoring fifties in an innings against Australia.

 

 

VVS Laxman was dismissed stumped in this game to provide the 24th occasion of an Indian batsman dismissed stumped against West Indies. VVS Laxman's stumped dismissal in this innings provide the second occasion of his being dismissed stumped against West Indies, the other occasion was at Mumbai in Oct 2002 when he was stumped for 45.

 

 

VVS Laxman became the fifth Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped on two occasions against West Indies. Others are - M Amarnath, FM Engineer, RF Surti and PR Umrigar.

A Mukund registered his maiden test fifty with his 62 in this test. VVS Laxman scored his 52nd half century and 68th fifty with his 56 in this test. SK Raina registered his fifth half century and sixth fifty. MS Dhoni scored his 21st half century and 25th fifty.
