West Indies vs India: 2nd Test, Day 4

R Dravid completed 9800 runs while batting at number three when he was on 26 during his knock of 55 in India's second innings. At the end of his innings, his aggregate stood at 9829. He became the second batsman in the annals of test cricket to reach the land mark after RT Ponting of Australia who has scored 9856 runs at number three.

 

 

R Dravid and VVS Laxman added 65 runs in India's second innings providing the 23rd occasion of their partnering a 50 plus runs stand. Other Indian pairs to partner 50 plus run stands on 23 or more occasions are - R Dravid-SR Tendulkar {43}, G Gambhir-V Sehwag {29}, SC Ganguly-SR Tendulkar {28} and VVS Laxman-SR Tendulkar {24}.

 

 

R Dravid's 55 in this innings represent his 60th half century. He is the second batsman in the annals of test cricket to score 60 plus half centuries after AR Border who has scored 63 half centuries. On his way to 60th half century, R Dravid went past SR Tendulkar who has scored 59 half centuries.

 

 

R Dravid completed 2500 runs in the third innings of a test match when he was on 54 during his knock of 55 in India's second innings. He became the fifth batsman and also third Indian batsman in the annals of test cricket to reach the landmark. VVS Laxman has achieved this feat on three occasions - 69 and 74 not out at Port of Spain in Apr 2002, 100 and 63 at Basseterre in Jun 2006 and 85 and 51 plus at Bridgetown in Jun 2011.

 

 

VVS Laxman became the fourth Indian batsman to score twin fifties on three or more occasions. Others are - SM Gavaskar {05}, M Amarnath {03} and PR Umrigar {03}.

 

 

VVS Laxman with his 85 and 72 not out in this test became the second Indian batsman to score twin fifties in a test at Bridgetwon. M Amarnath is the other batsman who had scored 91 and 80 at Bridgetown in Apr 1983.

VVS Laxman became the sixth Indian batsman to score twin fifties on five or more occasions. Others are - SM Gavaskar {06}, M Amarnath {05}, R Dravid {05}, SR Tendulkar {05} and GR Viswanath {05}.
