Tendulkar’s feat

- Prior to the start of this test series, SR Tendulkar is in the elite group of batsmen who have scored eight or more hundreds against two specific oppositions. The complete list read thus - SM Gavaskar of India {08 vs Australia and 13 vs West Indies}, RT Ponting of Australia {08 vs England and 08 vs South Africa}, IVA Richards of West Indies {08 vs England and 08 vs India}, GS Sobers of West Indies {10 vs England and 08 vs India} and SR Tendulkar {10 vs Australia and 08 vs Sri Lanka}.

 

- Tendulkar registered his ninth hundred against Sri Lanka at Col-SSC in the second test of the series, He made 108 not out at the end of the third day in this test. His feat of nine hundreds provides the 12th occasion of a batsman scoring nine hundreds against a specific opposition. The twelve eccasions are - DG Bradman of Australia {19 vs England}, SM Gavaskar of India {13 vs West Indies}, JB Hobbs of England  {12 vs Australia}, GS Sobers of West Indies {10 vs England}, SR Tendulkar of India {10 vs Australia}, SR Waugh of Australia {10 vs England}, GS Chappell of Australia {09 vs England}, DI Gower of England {09 vs Australia}, WR Hammond of England {09 vs Australia}, BC Lara of West Indies {09 vs Australia} and RB Richardson of West Indies {09} and SR Tendulkar {09 vs Sri Lanka}.

 

- SR Tendulkar's hundred - 108 not out at the end of the third day - in this test against Sri Lanka gave him his ninth hundred and with it the distinction of becoming the only batsman in the annals of test cricket of scoring nine or more hundreds against two specific oppositions constituting a WORLD RECORD. Tendulkar has already scored ten hundreds against Australia.

- SM Gavaskar {2483} and SR Tendulkar {2150} are the two batsman to aggregate 2000 plus runs in India-England Test series. SR Tendulkar with seven hundreds to his credit owns the record for most hundreds in this test series.

 

- SR Tendulkar's aggregate of 1415 runs against South Africa is a record aggregate in the test series between India-South Africa test series. SR Tendulkar and V Sehwag share the record for most hundreds in this test series. Both the batsmen have scored five hundreds each.

- SR Tendulkar has an aggregate of 6130 runs on away soil while batting at number 4. He has scored 23 hundreds and 25 half centuries. His aggregate runs, centuries and half centuries are all records for a batsman batting at number 4 on away soil. SR Tendulkar is the only batsman to score 6000 plus runs on away soil, score 20 plus hundreds on away soil and 25 half centuries on away soil. SR Tendulkar became the first batsman to total 1000 plus runs against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. He earned this distinction when he was on 143 during his knock of 203 in this test. At the end of his innings his aggregate stood at 1060.
