Only T20: West Indies vs India

- This game was the 200th T20 International. It was also the 29th game for India and 30th game for West India. India has won 16 games, lost 11 games, tied one game and one game ended in a no result game. West Indies has won 12 games, lost 16 games and tied two games.

 

- West Indies and India have played three T20 games of which West Indies has won two games. India's win in this game provide its first win in a T20 game against West Indies.

 

- SK Raina was leading India for the third occasion. The other two occasions were - vs Zimbabwe at Harare on 12.06.10 and vs Zimbabwe at Harare on 13.06.10.

 

- DJG Sammy was leading West Indies for the second occasion; the first was against Pakistan at Gros Islet on 21.04.11.

 

- India capped S Badrinath, PA Patel and S Dhawan for this game. They became the 35th, 36th and 37th cricketers to represent India in T20Is. This is the first occasions of Indian cricketers taking making debut against West Indies in T20Is. This also provide the 24th occasion of a three or more cricketers making debut for a team in T20Is excluding the occasions in which all the eleven cricketers making their test debut.

 

- PA Patel for India and ADS Flether for West Indies opened the innings for their respective teams  in this game providing the 17th occasions or rival captains opening the game in T20Is.

 

- West Indies won the toss and inserted the opposition in this game providing the tenth occasion of West Indies doing so in T20Is. West Indies became the second team to insert the opposition on ten or more occasions in the history of T20Is, the first being New Zealand which has inserted the opposition on 12 occasions.

 

- West Indies won the toss and inserted the opposition in this game providing the 95th occasion of team doing so in the history of T20Is.

 

- DJG Sammy captured 4 for 16 in this game providing the 50th occasion of a bowler capturing four or more wickets in T20Is. He is the fourth bowler to perform the feat against India.  Others are - Mohammad Asif of Pakistan {4 for 18 at Durban on 14.09.07}, DL Vettori of New Zealand {4 for 20 at Jo'burg on 16.09.07} and DJ Bravo of West Indies {4 for 38 at Lord's on 12.06.09} . Thus DJG Sammy's 4 for 16 represent the best bowling figures against India in T20Is.

 

- DJG Sammy captured 4 for 16 in this game providing the sixth occasion of a West Indian bowler capturing four wickets in T20Is and the second such occasion against India. DJ Bravo's 4 for 38 at Lord's on 12.06.09 provide the first such occasion. Thus DJG Sammy's 4 for 16 represent the best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler against India in T20Is.

 

- DJG Sammy's 4 for 16 was in a losing cause providing the 12th occasion of a bowler's four or more wickets going in vain.  This is the second occasion of West Indies losing the T20I game when DJG Sammy has captured four or more wickets. The other occasion was his 5 for 26 against Zimbabwe at Port of Spain on 28.02.10. Thus DJG Sammy became the first bowler in the history of T20Is to witness two four or more wicket hauls in a losing cause.

 

- DJG Sammy's 4 for 16 in this game was in a losing cause providing the fourth occasion of West Indian bowler's four wicket haul going in vain in T20Is. The other three are - 4 for 19 by LMP Simmons vs Sri Lanka at Nottingham on 10.06.09, 4 for 06 by SJ Benn vs Zimbabwe at Port of Spain on 28.02.10 and 5 for 26 by DJG Sammy vs Zimbabwe at Port of Spain on 28.02.10.

 

- DJG Sammy became the third captain in the history of T20Is to capture four wickets. The other two are - DL Vettori of New Zealand {4 for 20 vs India at Jo'burg on 16.09.07} and Shahif Afridi of Pakistan {4 for 14 vs New Zealand at Christchurch on 30.12.10} DJG Sammy became the second captain to capture four wickets against India in T20Is. The other bowler is DJ Vettori of New Zealand {4 for 20 at Jo'burg on 16.09.07}.

 

- DJG Sammy's 4 for 16 in this game was in a losing cause. He became the first captain in T20Is to witness his four wicket haul going in vain.

 

- India has played three T20Is against West Indies. It is interesting to note that on all these three occasions India has posted a team total of 150 plus runs - 153 for 7 at Lord's on 12.06.09, 155 for 9 at Bridgetown on 09.05.10 and 159 for 6 at Port of Spain on 04.06.11. Thus India's 159 for 6 in this game represent its highest team total against West Indies.

 

- RG Sharma scored two boundary sixes in this game which gave him an aggregate of 100 boundary sixes in T20 games. He became the 16th batsman to score 100 plus boundary fours in T20 games.
