IPL Match No 15: Deccan Chargers vs Kings Eleven Punjab

- Ishant Sharma and DW Steyn were appearing in their 50th and 75th T20 games respectively in this game.

 

- Deccan Chargers became the second team to play 50 IPL games. This was their 50th match. Bangalore is the other team to play 50 IPL matches. Deccan Chargers became the first team in IPL to suffer 30 losses. They lost this game which was their 30th loss and hold the record for most losses by a team in IPL.

 

- PC Valthaty captured four wickets conceding 29 runs in this game providing the 31st occasion of a bowler capturing four or more wickets in IPL. His feat provides the third occasion of a Mohali bowler accounting for four wickets in IPL. The other two occasions are - 4 for 32 by YA Abdulla vs Bangalore at Durban on 21.05.08 and 4 for 36 vs Bangalore at Durban on 01.05.09. Thus PC Valthaty's 4 for 29 in this game represent the best bowling figures by a Mohali bowler in IPL.

 

- PC Valthaty's 4 for 29 in this game represent the eighth occasions of a bowler capturing four or more wickets against Hyderabad in IPL which is a record for most four or wickets by a bowler against a specific team in IPL. The previous record was seven and was against Bangalore.

 

- The eight occasions of bowlers capturing four or more wickets against Hyderabad are - 5 for 17 by A Mishra of Delhi at Delhi on 15.05.08 : 4 for 22 by SB Jakati of Chennai at East London on 04.05.09 : 4 for 15 by R Bhatia of Delhi at Durban on 13.05.09 : 4 for 16 by A Kumble at Jo'burg on 24.05.09 : 4 for 21 by SK Warne of Jaipur at Nagpur on 05.04.10 : 4 for 13 by DE Bollinger of Chennai at Mumbai on 22.04.10 : 4 for 16 by A Kumble at Mumbai on 24.04.10 and 4 for 29 by PC Valthaty of Mohali at Hyd-RGS on 16.04.11.

 

- KC Sangakkara took his IPL aggregate to 1096 and AC Gilchrist took his IPL run aggregate to 1301. AC Gilchrist became the fourth batsman in IPL to total more than 1300 runs. Others are - SK Raina {1437} : SR Tendulkar {1371} and JH Kallis {1319}.

 

- AC Gilchrist's aggregate of boundary sixes stood at 67 with his five sixes in this game. He now holds the record of most sixes scored by a batsman in IPL. He went past SK Raina and YK Pathan who have scored 62 sixes each in IPL.

The best stand for the first wicket in IPL is 155 runs in an unfinished stand between AC Gilchrist and VVS Laxman for Hyderabad vs Mumbai at Mumbai on 27.04.08.
