This stand also provides the 21st occasion of West Indies batsmen posting a three figure partnership against India for the fourth wicket.

S Chanderpaul scored 116 not out in this test providing the 98th occasion of a West Indies batsman scoring a hundred against India. His knock represents his sixth hundred against India. He became the fifth West Indian batsmen to score six or more test hundreds against India. Others are - IVA Richards {08}, GS Sobers {08}, CH Lloyd {07} and ED Weekes {07}

S Chanderpaul and GS Sobers share the record of most hundred not outs against India. Both of them have scored four hundreds and remained not out.

 

SR Tendulkar {16}, SR Waugh {15}, JH Kallis {14}, S Chanderpaul {13} and AR Border {11} are the five batsmen who have scored ten or more hundreds and remained not out in the annals of test cricket.

 

S Chanderpaul's 116 not out represent his 23rd test hundred and sixth against India. He became the 12th batsman in the annals of test cricket to score six or more hundred against India.

S Chanderpaul's feat of six hundreds against India provides the 81st occasion of a batsman scoring six or more hundreds against a specific opposition in the annals of test cricket. His feat also provides the 15th occasion of a West Indian batsman accomplishing such a feat.

 

S Chanderpaul with his 23 hundreds stands fourth in the list of West Indian batsmen who have scored most hundreds in tests. Others are - BC Lara {34}, GS Sobers {26} and IVA Richards {24}. Infact, these are the four West Indian batsmen who have scored 20 plus hundreds.

 

This test was of a special significance to S Chanderpaul as he became the most capped West Indian test cricketer {133 tests} and also most capped West Indian test cricketer at home {66 tests}. He made it most memorable by scoring a hundred - 116 not out.

 

S Chanderpaul and FH Edwards added 65 runs for the ninth wicket in this test providing the tenth occasion of a fifty plus runs partnership for the ninth wicket against India.

 

FH Edwards's 30 in this test represent his highest test score and was an improvement over his previous best of 21 vs South Africa at Cape Town

 

R Dravid has an aggregate of 1511 runs at the end of this test against West Indies in West Indies. He is the only batsman in the annals of test cricket to earn this distinction.

 

R Dravid's run aggregate at the end of this test read 9868 while batting at number three. He now holds the record for most aggregate runs by a batsman who has batted at number three. He went past RT Ponting who has totalled 9856 runs at number three

 

India won the test series for the fifth occasion against West Indies. The other four occasions were - 1970-71 in West Indies - 1-0 in five test series, 1978-79 in India - 1-0 in six test series, 2002-03 in India - 2-0 in three test series and 2006 in West Indies - 1-0 in four test series
