India capped A Mukund, V Kohli and Praveen Kumar for this test. They become the 267th, 268th and 269th cricketers to represent India in tests. They also became the 42nd, 43rd and 44th Indian cricketers to make their test debut against West Indies.

R Dravid is playing his 150th test for India {excluding the one he played representing ICC Eleven against Australia}. He became the second Indian cricketer to play 150 plus tests after SR Tendulkar who has appeared in 177 tests.

R Dravid became the fifth cricketer in the world to appear in 150 plus tests for a specific country. Others are - SR Tendulkar {177}, SR Waugh {168}, AR Border {156} and RT Ponting {152}

 

R Dravid is playing his 84th test on away soil. Only SR Tendulkar {98} has played more tests on away soil than R Dravid. These are the only two cricketers to play 80 plus tests on away soil in the annals of test cricket.

 

R Dravid was playing his 15th test in West Indies. He became the third cricketer to play 15 or more tests in West Indies. Others are AJ Stewart and GP Thorpe - both from England

 

SK Raina and Harbhajan Singh added 146 runs for the seventh wicket providing the 90th   occasion of Indian batsmen posting a century stand against West Indies. This stand also represents the sixth occasion of Indian batsmen posting a three figure stand for the seventh wicket against West Indies. It is interesting to note that all these six partnerships have been registered on West Indian soil.

 

SK Raina and Harbhajan Singh added 146 runs for the seventh wicket providing the first occasion of a century stand by Indian batsmen at Kingston thus constituting a record stand. The previous best was 93 runs partnership between R Dravid and A Kumble in Jun 1996

 

SK Raina's 82 represents his third half century and fourth fifty, while Harbhajan Singh registered his ninth half century and 11th fifty with his 70 in this test.

 

SK Raina and Harbhajan Singh scored 82 and 70 respectively in this game providing the 253rd and 254th occasion of Indian batsmen scoring fifties in a test innings against West Indies. These knocks also provide the 181st and 182nd occasion of Indian batsmen scoring half centuries in a test innings against West Indies.

MS Dhoni failed to score in the first innings of this test providing the 52nd occasion of an Indian captain scoring zero against various oppositions and also provide the 15th occasion of an Indian captain scoring a duck in a test innings against West Indies

 

MS Dhoni's duck in this test provide the third occasion of his scoring zero as captain. The other two occasions are - vs England at Mohali in Dec 2008 and vs South Africa at Cape Town in Jan 2011.

 

MS Dhoni's zero in this test represents his fifth zero in a test innings. Other four occasions are - vs England at Lord's in Jul 2007, vs Australia at Melbourne in Dec 2007, vs England at Mohali in Dec 2008 and vs South Africa at Cape Town in Jan 2011

 

MS Dhoni's zero in this test provide the 64th occasion of an Indian wicket keeper batsman scoring zero against various oppositions and 17th such occasion against West Indies

MS Dhoni's duck in this game provide the 33rd occasion of a captain-cum-wicket keeper scoring a duck in the annals of test cricket. It also provides the third occasion of Indian captain-cum-wicket keeper batsman scoring zero in a test innings - all the three occasions credited to MS Dhoni.  Other two occasions are - vs England at Mohali in Dec 2008 and vs South Africa at Cape Town in Jan 2011

 

MS Dhoni became the third captain-cum-wicket keeper batsman to score zero on three or more occasions in the annals of test cricket. The other two are - T Taibu of Zimbabwe {04} and LK Germon of New Zealand {03}.

 

R Dravid became the first batsman in the annals of test cricket to play 125 tests while batting at number three. This test was his 125th test. At the end of the first innings, his run aggregate against West Indies while batting at number three read 808. He became the fifth batsman to complete 800 runs under such parameters. Others are - RT Ponting {1419}, IM Chappell {1379], M Amaranath {922} and KC Sangakkara {918}

 

Harbhajan Singh scored 70 in this test providing the 520th occasion of a batsman scoring a fifty while batting at number eight in a test innings. His knock provides the 69th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring a fifty while batting at number eight.

 

Harbhajan Singh's 70 in this game represent his seventh fifty while batting at number eight. Only Kapil Dev {13} has scored more fifties amongst Indian batsmen while batting at number eight.

 

Harbhajan Singh with seven fifties to his credit became the tenth batsman in the annals of test cricket to score seven or more fifties while batting at number eight in a test innings. Others are - DL Vettori of New Zealand {17}, N Kapil Dev of India {13}, MV Boucher of South Africa {11}, SK Warne of Australia {11}, WPUJC Vaas of Sri Lanka {09}, CL Cairns of New Zealand {07}, JE Emburey of England {07}. RJ Hadlee of New Zealand {07} and MD Marshall of West Indies {07}

 

R Dravid's run aggregate at the end of India's first innings against West Indies in West Indies read 1300. He became the second batsman to total 1300 plus runs against West Indies in West Indies after SM Gavaskar {1404}.
