  • Second Test – Sri Lanka vs Australia

    Australia capped SE Marsh for this test. He became the 422nd
    cricketer to represent Australia
    in tests. He also became the ninth Australian cricketer to make his test debut
    against Sri Lanka.

     

     

    Sri Lanka capped S Prasanna for this test. He became the 117th cricketer
    to represent Sri Lanka
    in tests. He also became the 12th Sri Lankan cricketer to make his
    test debut against Australia.

     

     

    DPMD
    Jayawardene became the fifth fieldsman in the annals of test cricket to pouch
    170 plus catches. He accomplished the feat when he caught Australian skipper MJ
    Clarke of the bowling of Welegedera in Australian first innings which was his
    170th catches, Other fieldsmen to pouch 170 plus catches are - R Dravid
    {207}, ME Waugh {187}, RT Ponting {180} and SP Fleming {171}.

     

     

    DPMD
    Jayawardene holds the record for most catches in the annals of cricket on home
    soil with 107 catches to his credit. JH Kallis of South Africa {101| is the other
    fieldsman to pouch 100 plus catches on home soil.
