    - SR Watson {56}, Ponting {77}, MJ North {128} and TD Paine {59} scored fifties in Australia's innings providing the 259th, 260th, 261st and 262nd occasion of an Australian batsman scoring fifties against India.

     

    - RT Ponting's 77 in this Test provide the 49th occasion of an Australian captain scoring a fifty against India. It was RT Ponting's sixth fifty as captain against India. He now occupies the joint third spot amongst the Australian captains who have scored most fifties against India. He is on par with KJ Hughes who has scored six fifties.     - This game represent the first ever T20I game between South Africa and Zimbabwe.     - India and Australia are scheduled to play the second test at Bangalore during 09.10.10 and 13.10.10.

     

    - Prior to the start of the test, MJ Clarke has an aggregate of 985 runs against India. He requires 15 runs to complete 1000 runs against India. If he gets them he would become the ninth batsman to total 1000 plus runs against India.

     

    - ML Hayden, RT Ponting and DC Boon share the record of most hundreds by an Australian batsman against India. One more hundred to RT Ponting will be his seventh hundred and with it he would own the record of most hundreds by an Australian batsman against India.

     

    - R Dravid has an aggregate of 1927 runs representing India prior to the start of the Bangalore test. He requires 73 runs for his 2000 run aggregate against Australia.     - SR Tendulkar created a world record at Mohali against Australia in the first test of the ongoing test series by aggregating 1003 runs in the calendar year 2010, which was his sixth occasion of totaling 1000 runs in calendar year. He has totalled 1000 runs in 1997, 1088 runs in 1998, 1003 runs in 2002, 1392 runs in 2002, 1063 runs in 2008 and 1003 in 2010.

     

    - His 1003 runs in 2010 came at Mohali when he was on 35 during his knock of 38 in India’s second innings. SR Tendulkar went past ML Hayden of Australia, BC Lara of West Indies and RT Ponting of Australia who have compiled 1000 runs in five calendar years.
