India complete yet another comprehensive victory as they beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets to clinch the 5-match series as well. The home side now have an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the series with a game to play at Delhi. It never looked India were chasing a total as big as 316, the highest at this venue. Even after losing Sehwag and Tendulkar cheaply, two young lads, Gambhir and Kohli came up with a professional and scintillating performance adding a record-breaking 224 runs for 3rd wicket. They did score some boundaries early on but after that, they did not take much risk and busy kept on taking singles and doubles to reach towards their target. Kohli (107) departed after scoring his maiden ton but Gambhir went on to score an unbeaten 150 off 137 deliveries to see India through to their 5th highest successful run chase in ODIs. Towards the end, Karthik (19*) and Gambhir ended the proceedings in 48.1 overs handing Sri Lanka yet another series defeat in India. Remember, the home side were playing without their top two batsmen in terms of rankings, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni and this hence is a brilliant victory under the leadership of Virender Sehwag.Gautam Gambhir is chosen the Man of the Match for his stunning knock of 150.
