Born in Rotorua, Trent Boult jumped onto the international stage when he was invited in the New Zealand A team for their 2007 winter training squad in Lincoln. He is a left-arm medium-fast bowler who bowls with some decent pace. During this tour, he guided his team to victory against India A with a last-ball six. He was then picked up for the ICC Under-19 World Cup held in Malaysia in February 2008. “Bolty” has been playing for the Northern Districts since 2008-09.
At a ripe age of 19 years, he was selected to play an ODI series against Australia. Though he managed to only play in the warm up game against Prime Minister’s XI going wicket-less, he impressed as the fastest bowler in the Kiwi team clocking the highest speed of 143km/h (89.0mph).
Boult was drafted in the national squad for the series against Australia in 2011 after some impressive domestic performances and he went to make his international debut in the Hobart Test.
