A hard hitting batsman from Port Elizabeth, Jacques Du Toit made his first-class debut way back in the 1998-99 season, representing the Easterns. He is also an athletic fieldsman and an occasional medium-pacer.
Du Toit broke into the English county, Leicestershire in 2008 and impressed with his fine batting exploits. His level-headed, yet aggressive batting helped his team win a nail-biting encounter against Durham in 2009, as he hit a six and four in the final over. He batted particularly well in the Championship matches, scoring an unbeaten century as part of a 230-run partnership along with James Taylor, who become the youngest double-centurion for the club. Du Toit had a wonderful 2010 season, as he scored 899 first-class runs in 20 innings.
