An aggressive opener who loved to play on the back foot through covers, Imran Nazir forced the cricketing world to label him an ODI player but he proved his critics wrong and did fairly well in the Test matches.

Nazir made his Test and ODI debut in 1999 against Sri Lanka but his aggressive approach backfired against him as he was upstaged by his fellow openers. After a strong domestic season in 2006/07 he was recalled into the national side against South Africa. A 39-ball 57 saw him earn a place in the World Cup side of 2007. Nazir was considered to be one of the best fielders in the national side. He had a solid outing in the 2007 World Cup where he scored a career-best 160 against Zimbabwe, which saw him being retained by the selectors for the series in Abu Dhabi and Scotland. His free flowing and aggressive approach fetched him a place in the World Twenty20 side and following that, he was awarded a central contract against South Africa.

Nazir played his last ODI for Pakistan in 2009. However, he remains a useful cricketer and was included in the T20I squad for the 2012 World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka. He was also a part of Sialkot Stallions, ahead of their Champions League T20 debut in the same year.
