Profile

Built on the likes of the tall West Indian Curtly Ambrose, at 6 feet 8 inches, a hobbledehoy Boyd Rankin grew up in the local farms of London berry in Ireland, tuning himself into a fine right-arm fast bowler. He was the protagonist in an unmovable display of cricket sending home Pakistan in the group stages of the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in West Indies with a three-wicket haul, ending a fitting finale as Ireland's top wicket-taker with 12 scalps.

'Boydo' made his intentions clear with a steeling statement saying that he would want to play for England in his future. Before a major stint with Warwickshire where a fiery bowling coach in the form of Allan Donald was waiting to take him under his wing, he turned down a contract extension from Derbyshire after representing them for a year.
